The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (@mca_denver) presents Colorado in the Present Tense, featuring @narkitagold, @rickgriffith, @thisisnathanhall, and @maia_ruth_lee. The exhibit centers on how artists of the Colorado region are absorbing, responding to, grappling with, and reimagining the upended world in which we presently find ourselves.⁠

Narkita’s project, @blackindenver, features 100 portraits of those who identify as Black, living in the Denver community. The collection of photographs are joyful, vibrant, and a layered testament to what makes this city so singular and how Denver can best elevate and honor those singular voices.⁠

There are 40 slots available. Each participant slot includes five, 20-minute reviews over two hours’ time. Reviewers include top editors, graphic designers, consultants, photographers, art buyers, and gallery owners.⁠

Referring to the well-known phrase of the evil stepmother in the Brothers Grimm version of Snow White, the exhibition title "Mirror Mirror" conjures ideas of representation, magic, power, and narrative.⁠

The works of the artist challenge the racial and gender politics of the phrase “Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest one of all?” and open up a dialogue about these embedded values.⁠
