The online lecture will be previewed/replayed on Monday, March 22nd as part of the opening week of the exhibition.
The University of Colorado Denver, College of Architecture and Planning will host a free virtual lecture with Ronald Rael to accompany their exhibition spotlighting the work of Laurie Smith and Ronald Rael.

The exhibition features photographer Laurie Smith‘s large black & white photographic prints evocatively documenting the beauty and horror of the Wall alongside digital projections of Ronald Rael’s architectural renderings of sociocultural and ecological alternatives to notions of border wall.

Exhibition Curator: Annicia Streete is a visiting professor at the University of Colorado, Denver. Professor Streete is the faculty liaison for the NOMA student chapter. Special thanks to her students for assisting with this exhibit.
Artists:
Laurie Smith, Denver artist, explores the complexities of culture through narrative photography.
Ronald Rael is a Professor and the Eva Li Memorial Chair of the Architecture and Director of the Masters of Architecture program with a joint appointment in the Department of Architecture, in the College of Environmental Design, and the Department of Art Practice at the University of California, Berkley. He is also the author of Borderwall as Architecture: A manifesto for the U.S. – Mexico Boundary.

This is a timely examination of what the physical barrier that divides the United States of America from the United Mexican States is and could be. The exhibit includes photographer Laurie Smith‘s large black & white photographic prints evocatively documenting the beauty and horror of the Wall alongside digital projections of Ronald Rael’s architectural renderings of sociocultural and ecological alternatives to notions of border wall. The online exhibit is accompanied by a virtual lecture on Wednesday, March 17, and it will be previewed/replayed on Monday, March 22.
