Virgil DiBiase is a doctor based in Indiana. His life’s passion has been to work with individuals suffering from dementia. However, he not only treated his patients at his clinic, but he spent time with them in their homes. He took time to understand their struggles and suffering. Now, Virgil expresses those emotions through his photography to show the viewer how disorienting this disease can truly be. These photos allow for a view into a world many do not see.

In a translucent reality, reality and fantasy overlap; both are present, but they cannot be easily distinguished from one another. Instead, they morph back and forth, and potentially create a dynamic that allows humanity to recreate itself, bringing ideas together to get a clearer world-view. The artists in this exhibition, including Bonny Lhotka, Melanie Walker, and Katie Kalkstein are striving for a sense of enlightenment by shining through the veil to express their truths and mysteries. These artists utilize traditional and alternative photographic methods, in conjunction with the Month of Photography Denver Festival.
The exhibit can be visited Tuesday-Saturday, 11 AM – 5 PM. The gallery has been taking all necessary precautions related to Covid-19, including proper sanitizing, face coverings and social distancing. Our 3800 square foot space creates a perfect opportunity to view art while maintaining adequate distance from others.

Leon Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Scott McCormick, who uses custom-built sets, headdresses, and expensive props to create photographs that tell the story of the Greek legend Orpheus.
From the Artist:
“I set out to borrow subject matter, geometry, and style from 19th century French academic painters such as Bouguereau, Cabanel, and Tissot. However, photos began to direct me and I found myself immersed in the folklore of Greek, Slavic, and Mayan cultures, and exploring a parallel between my art and that of the Greek legend, Orpheus. I spent countless days buried in books and on calls with professors, theologians and Mayan shamans. Through this research, I discovered a connection between these stories — which had wholly overtaken me — and my own past. This collection came to embody that exploration.
Rooted in custom-built sets, miniature models, headdresses, and extensive props, the photos began to naturally present themselves. Combining digital elements and film photos allowed me to discover the warmth and honesty for the epitaph of Orpheus. This gallery follows one story through a myriad of exploration in the art of photography.”

The Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC) is collaborating with Indigenous Photograph to curate an outdoor exhibition that will be digitally projected on the Daniels & Fisher Tower as part of Night Lights Denver during the 2021 Month of Photography Festival.
This work was created by members of Indigenous Photograph, a global community of visual storytellers who come from a diverse range of Indigenous communities across six continents.
“Together, these images constitute a portrait of life during 2020. And though we struggled through the COVID-19 pandemic and widespread civil unrest from the United States to Nigeria to Hong Kong, we hope these photos will also show you some quieter moments of hope and connectivity from life across Indigenous territories.”
Special thanks to The Denver Theatre District and Night Lights Denver for making this exhibition possible and supporting the 2021 Month of Photography Denver festival.
