Virgil DiBiase is a doctor based in Indiana. His life’s passion has been to work with individuals suffering from dementia. However, he not only treated his patients at his clinic, but he spent time with them in their homes. He took time to understand their struggles and suffering. Now, Virgil expresses those emotions through his photography to show the viewer how disorienting this disease can truly be. These photos allow for a view into a world many do not see.

Black and White Photography in the 21st Century
CURTIS CENTER FOR THE ARTS
CLOSING RECEPTION: Saturday, April 24 (6 – 8 pm)
Black & white photography is thought by some to be only a relic of the past. However, many assume that, with digital cameras and colorful ink printing available, B&W is an abandoned art form. To the contrary, some 21st century photographic artists still prefer to express their art through this medium. This exhibition explores the work of seven contemporary B&W photographers and provides insight into their philosophies of subject selection and their reasons for choosing a B&W presentation. Varied subjects are represented, from beautiful traditional landscapes to abstract explorations of the aged human body.
Photographers include: Jim Sidinger, Eric Biggerstaff, Tom Finke, Jeff Graves, Keith Pitman and Bruce Zander. This exhibit will also feature Anastasia Pottinger’s series, Centenarians, a photo essay of images of the human body at age 100. From each photographer, you will also learn of the techniques and methods used by them to create their images.
