Aki: An Artist Talk with Marcella Kwe

4 – 6 pm
Center for Visual Art (CVA), Metropolitan State University
CVA welcomes Entanglements artist Marcella Kwe (Ojibwe) for a talk about her work on view in the exhibition. In her film titled Aki, Marcella uses photomicrography, a DSLR camera mounted onto a microscope, to explore the creation stories of her ancestors and the flora and fauna of their homeland. The accompanying sonic experience was created using items from the landscapes illustrated in the film.
The eleven national and international artists featured in Entanglements explore our connections to the natural world through a variety of lenses. These artists employ diverse approaches and intentions, bringing awareness to the current state of our environment to inspire action, giving discarded remains new life, or exploring regenerative capabilities of ecosystems.
