Charrería: Exploring the Human-Horse Relationship in Mexican Rodeo

March 4 - 27

Center of the American West (CU Boulder)

Featuring 21 black & white and color photographs taken by Chris Sessions, this exhibit at the Center of the American West explores the human-horse connection in Charrería, the national sport of Mexico. For ten years, Sessions has been documenting Charrería (also known as Mexican rodeo) as experienced by Colorado-local professionals, their families and communities. From masterful use of the lasso to the skirmish techniques of the female-led escaramuzas, the photographs selected for this exhibit speak to the stunning connection between horse and rider. In scales both vast and intimate, witness a rich tradition as it plays out in the current complexity of the American West. Exhibit Hours: The Center of The American West is open Tuesday - Thursday from 10 am - 3 pm.
