One of four exhibitions on view at 40 West Gallery during the Month of Photography festival, Desensitization features works by Denver-based artist Leah Diament.
From the Artist:
“Desensitization” visually represents the feeling of being overwhelmed by society’s big issues. The topic is approached by increasing the same image more and more frequently. The progression of multiples connects you with the stages of being desensitized through an overwhelming amount of material.
Sloppy printing and vivid colors are used to signify the inattention that even the most important subjects are given just because of their sheer mass. This series pushes the viewer to discover the patterns that arise during the course of desensitization, review and become aware of both the harm and benefits of being overloaded with information.
