They say the eyes are the window to the soul. They reveal true emotions, sentiments, and thoughts. The two artists in this exhibition convey the innermost and outermost beauty of humankind. Photographer Ron Cooper has traveled the world in pursuit of images that reflect local cultures and people. His photographs are intended to convey a sense of place, personality and emotion. While his photographs document the many differences in appearance, dress, culture, and faith, he hopes they also convey the fact that our similarities and “connectedness” as humans far outweigh those superficial differences.
Doctor Jaime Belkind-Gerson creates his work with the images that surround him daily: X rays, CT scans, MRI’s through which our internal reality and beauty manifest. These, he combines with other images that reflect our external world. They are manipulated with specifically designed software algorithms. Once captured, he uses manual processes for additional layering. Although these artists create their images very differently, both of them emphasize humankind’s reflections from within.
