Opening Receptions for Sufficiently Advanced and I Met You Along the Way

March 27, 6 - 9 pm

Sufficiently Advanced: Works by Carol Golemboski and Jay Gould Whether rooted in science or steeped in magic, the upcoming exhibition “Sufficiently Advanced” explores the transformative power of innovation and imagination as seen through a new lens. Presented as part of Denver’s Month of Photography, the show features work by two celebrated artists, Jay Gould and Carol Golemboski, who use photographic storytelling to break down complex topics. Inspired by Arthur C. Clarke's Third Law - “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic” - the exhibit presents two artists using analog photographic processes to bridge our relationship to magic and science.   I Met You Along the Way: Portraits from Latin America by Colleen Hennessy Experience vibrant cultures, diverse faces, and a journey that inspired the upcoming exhibition “I Met You Along the Way: Portraits from Latin America,” featuring stunning photographic portraits. As part of Denver’s Month of Photography, artist Colleen Hennessy uses her camera as both a bridge and catalyst to capture the beauty of everyday life and the rich traditions of the people in this region. And after spending 27 months on the mountaintops of Honduras, she documented her experience as she embraced the culture as her own.“Through my lens, I aim to share the stories and emotions of the people who welcomed me into their lives, capturing not just images but the essence of community, resilience, and connection.” Get a new frame of reference to a culture steeped in tradition when you view Hennessy’s intimate series on display in the Leyden Jar at Art Gym Denver.
