What is Month of Photography?

Month of photography Denver is a biennial festival that celebrates the art of photography through public exhibitions and events across the region. Learn more in our About section and History section.

When is it?

Month of Photography Denver is biennial, so it takes place every other year. The next festival is March 1 – 31, 2027.

Where is it?

The Month of Photography Denver festival headquarters is the Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC), located at 1200 Lincoln Street in Denver’s Golden Triangle Creative District. Participating spaces include museums, galleries, arts centers, businesses, and other spaces located throughout the Denver metro region, Boulder, Fort Collins, and beyond. The festival is one of the largest arts events in Colorado, with more than 100 exhibitions, artist talks, and other events at more than 50 participating spaces. Start your MOP journey at CPAC, where you can pick up a festival guide and talk to our friendly staff, who can offer helpful guidance and recommendations.

Is it free to attend?

The majority of exhibitions will be free to attend, though some venues will host paid, ticketed events. Events such as workshops and the Month of Photography Portfolio Reviews require a registration fee.

How do I exhibit my photography?

Interested in exhibiting your work during the festival? We’d love to have you participate! Here are a few ways to get started:

Browse our Calls for Entry to find exhibition opportunities. We’ll continue adding new calls as we get closer to the festival, so be sure to check back regularly.

If you’re represented by a gallery, encourage them to include your work in a solo or group exhibition during the festival. Participating venues can promote their exhibitions by submitting details online to be included in the Month of Photography Festival Guidebook, online calendar, and interactive map.

If you don’t have gallery representation, don’t worry. Many festival exhibitions take place in community spaces. Libraries, coffee shops, restaurants, retail stores, and other local venues can all be wonderful places to share your work. Reach out to a venue that feels like a good fit and ask if they’d be interested in hosting an exhibition during the festival.

Looking for inspiration? Browse the MOP 2025 Festival Guidebook to explore the venues, photographers, and exhibitions from our most recent festival.

Can I volunteer?

Absolutely! Please fill out the Volunteer form so we can get in touch with you.
