My name is Devin “Speaks” Urioste. I was born and raised in Denver. I come from many different communities and really embody my city as a home. My photo collage work speaks to values I hold close: to represent my community, stay true to my culture, forever seek knowledge, and use my knowledge as a tool to facilitate critical thinking in my community.

I have been an educator and facilitator for the past 8 years, and my experience has taught me how to value others’ ideas, thoughts, and emotions. I want my visual work to reflect beauty from all different angles. I would like it to make people wonder and ask questions about themselves and others. I would like to take any opportunity to expand my knowledge of my community and also those communities around me.

My photo collage work will be part of a 2-person exhibit at Ink Lounge’s outdoor GalleRy. Both exhibits are located outdoors, and will run through May 2023.
